Sources insist Switch 2 will be announced this month: Cologne talks a lot
According to reliable sources, Nintendo's highly anticipated Switch successor will be announced in the near future, tentatively named Switch 2. Two industry insiders, GamesIndustry.biz's Christopher Delling and VGC's Andy Robinson, first broke the news on social media that Switch 2 will be revealed this month.
In the VGC podcast, Mr. Delin was invited to appear and reiterated his claim, which he said came from conversations with several developers during Gamescom Cologne.
However, neither expert gave an exact release date for the Switch 2. Mr. Robinson stressed that the announcements were not 100 per cent certain and were just speculation on social media. "I'm just saying it casually on Twitter, not a solid bet," he said. "If I were very sure, I would announce it in a news article rather than a tweet."
Notably, Mr. Delin also cited rumors that the Switch 2 would offer a "dual-screen" experience, but he noted that it was unclear whether that meant a handheld and TV screen combination similar to the Switch 1 series or a dual handheld screen design similar to the DS series.
